The valve is normally in a closed state, but due to the pressure of the medium at the inlet end of the pipeline, it overcomes the spring resistance and causes the valve to open. When the pressure of the medium at the inlet end is lower than that at the outlet end, the spring pushes the valve core towards the valve seat, causing the valve to close and preventing the medium from flowing back, thus acting as a check.
